ASES

The After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program is the result of the 2002 voter-approved initiative. The program works through a partnership between our school and local community resources to provide literacy, academic enrichment and safe constructive alternatives for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Days/Hours of Operation: The ASES Program operates every school day from dismissal time until 6:00 P.M.

Location: The ASES program uses designated rooms at Valle Del Sol.

Daily Activities: Nutritious snack, Recreational/Social Activities (sports, dance, art/crafts, music, cheer, baking etc.). These activities are designed to allow students to develop in a variety of areas such as skill development, study skills and character development, which helps children develop socially and ensure their success in school.

Enrollment Procedure: Every student must apply each year and parents must  complete an ASES application for each student. Space is limited, therefore priority will be given to students that are able to attend the program five days a week till the end of the program time and students may be placed on a waiting list if all program slots are filled.

Attendance Policy: All students enrolled in the ASES program are expected to attend five (5) days per week until 6:00 P.M. Program funding requires regular daily attendance as defined in the Education Code as five (5) days per week for the full program. All absences require an Absent notice to be completed.

Sports/Activities Early Release Policy: A student may be released early from the ASES program prior to 6:00 P.M. for attending a parallel program (pertaining to one’s religious background, the school, community centers/parks and recreation such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc.). Parents/guardian will need to fill out a Sports/Activities Early Release Contract Form and must provide the ASES site staff with the requested documentation (ex: schedule of activities).
